Fall / Bump it

It is officially Fall! I don't know if I have ever been happier to be in Fall! The clothing is so much more comfy for my ever growing belly. I have so so many things I am looking forward to this breezy season! First things first, our next ultrasound is the beginning of October and I just need a confirmation on the sex of our baby and we'll start a flippin NURSERY!! I am on cloud nine thinking about a baby room and all the joy it'll be filled with. I have almost an exact image in mind. Can't wait to put it to action.

Second - All the best shows start back up in the Fall. I'm loving my XFactor and The Voice back to back all week. I can snuggle up with a cup of chocky milk and cry over silly little stories they put in there.

Third - Crafts! I have no Fall decor so I have been crafting up a storm. Okay not really. I've done 2 things. Little things. But more to come! I will make sure to share.

Invites & Banner

I have been getting pretty crafty lately.
Or at least I would think so.
With the wedding festivities arising I wanted to put together a few of my own things.
Here are the invites I made for my sister and also the banner for her bridal shower.
It's been a lot of fun!

I thought about doing some kind of tutorial but the pictures pretty much explain it all.

For the banner I decided to use fabric instead of paper and twine for the string.

Home Blocks

I got these adorable HOME blocks for Christmas from my dad and step mom, I have finally finished them. They were just painted for the longest time. Jordan asked me "Why did you only paint the O?" I didn't! I just painted the others a more neutral color. GOSH! haha. So i put some paper on them and called them good. I literally want to mod podge everything in my home.

I Love You Because...

Today is a nice day. I cannot complain about 40 degree sunny days from the weather we have been having. I did something bad today, I hit up a local tanning bed, but let me tell you, it was the most relaxing 12 minutes I've had in a loooooong time! Can't wait for more sunny days. I will even settle for rainy days.

So last week I went to Gina's to craft. This craft I thought would be a walk in the park. Although it didn't require many steps or supplies it sure was harder than I expected. Mainly because I needed to find a way to hide a seam of 2 pieces of paper. I originally did not plan to do the ribbon but after the mod podge rippled I did and I think I love it even more now than the way I imagined it. It was also hard to get the paper to cut to this pattern since you cant really trace it with all the ridges. But I love the final look!!

I just picked up the wooden frame at The Wood Connection.

The best part, besides that it looks adorable, is it gives us an avenue to remind us how much we care and love each other.

A Little Paint

Turning a regular bottle into a vase is something I would never think of. But after seeing all of the pictures of them I finally decided to make my own.
It was the easiest project I've ever done.
The best part is we got these bottles as a gift for Christmas and the each had these cute little reindeer faces on them. So I first ripped that stuff off and then poured paint inside it.
Thanks Pinterest!!!

After

It sure does the job that is for sure!

Over all I am happy with my purchase. It cost me a total of 12 bucks total for this guy. Amazing how a shelf really opens up a room. I had all the stuff on the shelf (minus the toilet paper) just sitting on our sink counter.

Before:

I first took off the fugly heart thingy. I thought it would be a sinch to get rid of but man did it try to hold on. There were nails into all surrounding boards. After getting that off, I just sanded it a little bit with a sanding block.

The tricky part was getting it white. I think I did a total of 5 coats. I was going to paint it a salmon color at first but decided against it. I may paint a jewelry box I have the salmon color an use it as an accent though!

I was using the towel to of course protect my kitchen table from paint, even though I have been meaning to paint that for centuries now!

Before

This is what I have been working on the last few days..

I hope to finish tonight and have the complete project up soon.
I am planning on using it in our bathroom but who knows where it will end up in our home.

Home Made Stockings

I had an idea to make some stockings for Jordan and I. We had been using the red and white fluffy ones for our first 3 years of marriage and this year I wanted them to be a little bit more personalized. Although it would have been much easier to just go out and buy some that were a little more unique, I thought
"How hard would it be to just sew my own??"

Given that I do not have a sewing machine, I decided to do it all by hand. I had a needle and some thread. They're just small things. Shouldn't take too long.
But now, I may take them to my moms and run over the seams with her machine just to make them a little more durable. However, I am so happy with how they turned out!

A few weeks back I was with G at Hobby Lobby and just came upon this adorable chevron fabric. I knew I had to get it! It is kind of canvas-y so I later went back and found some similar material for the top.

I could post the tutorial on how I made them but its pretty basic. I cut out the fabric in the shape I wanted it and flipped it inside out to sew then flipped it right side out. With the top I sewed it in like a circle and flipped and then sewed the two ends together and then attached it to the foot.

A few finger pricks later and..
Wa-La!

They obviously sort of look home made. I'm not a pro.. yet. But it took quite awhile.
I feel happy to have them finished under our tree.

Now maybe a tree skirt. Most likely not till next year.

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Last week Gina and I got together and went to The Wood Connection for the very first time! That place is awesome! I love it. Can't wait for my next project. We got letters to paint and modge podge for Christmas decor. Mine say "Ho Ho Ho"

I think I need a little Santa to go in front of them or something.

Our weekend has been great. Yesterday we went to breakfast at Denny's with my family, my sweet grandma paid for everyone. And today was our baking party! This year we did some oreo truffles. I ate a TON and now my tummy hurts. So worth it though :)

Make It New Again

It's the most simple of home decorating tips.
However, it never really crossed my mind until I read it in a magazine a little while ago.
When you don't really have money to get new decor for your home there are such great ways to use the stuff you already have and make it feel like new again!
It can be as simple as just rearranging furniture/decor to a new place in your home and all of a sudden the room feels more exciting. Like how you felt the first time you got the item.
I know from personal experience how awesome this works!
Or you can take items you have and just add/take away from them!
An easy one is a candle and wrapping it in scrapbook paper.
Or "painting" the inside of a clear vase to bring it to life.

Here are some pictures of changing around decor.

This little picture frame and lantern are making its way around my house.

See!

It used to look like

Those flowers and mirrored candles are also roaming our room.

I love mixing it up.
Probably at least once a week :)

Christmas Wreath

Last weekend, I got together with Gina and we made the funnest Christmas wreaths!
Mine was actually pretty time consuming.
I hadn't done one like this yet,
I tried to make it more poofy.

I have seen this done with wire circle lookin things.
Not sure what they are called.
I just used the styrofoam circle you find at any craft store,
Wrapped it in silver glittery ribbon,
And then glued the other ribbon in chunks with hot glue.
Turned out pretty darn cute right?

Hope you all have a safe Friday, I'm staying in this year.
Avoiding all those mad shoppers :)

Red and Green Chevron

I got the most adorable fabric yesterday!
I cannot wait to make mine and Jordan's stockings out of it!

I got it from Hobby Lobby!
I would never think of going there for fabric but so glad to have found it.

I am so proud of myself.
I started my Christmas shopping already.
Usually I am a last minute kinda person.
I got my niece the perfect board game.
Did you ever play Pretty Pretty Princess dress up game?
Well I did as a kid and I hope she loves it.

I also saw Breaking Dawn part II yesterday with my bestie
And we made Christmas wreaths!
The movie was pretty good.
The wreaths are amazing!
